Wolverhampton Drain Tracing
Sonar Drain tracing using a multiple frequency digital locator is often used together with CCTV to determine the path of underground drain pipes.
It is often used to find hidden manholes and collapsed pipes. A pulse signal from the sonde is sent in a circular or arch configuration and adjusted to indicate the pipe location and depth.
Our drain tracing and mapping services range from simply tracing a buried manhole or pipe to find the source of pollution or infiltration within a drainage system, to mapping out a complete sewer system if plans cannot be found. Very often there are no records of where drains at older properties run.
An Underground sonde carried by a high pressure water jetting hose or CCTV into the pipe to be traced, emits a high frequency signal to the operator’s receiver at ground level. Drain tracing dyes help to confirm connections from toilets, baths showers and sinks.
Using this equipment in conjunction with CCTV allows us to get an accurate view of what is going on below ground and helps keep repair costs to a minimum. Excavation is expensive, sonar tracing takes the guesswork out of where you dig.
With the drain trace and CCTV survey completed we can provide the client with details of the pipe depth, location and flow direction together with an accurate diagnosis of the drain problem.
Drain Mapping is creating a map of the drainage system layout. Drain mapping can show previously unknown connections and confirm which part of the underground drainage system belongs to the client and which part to the water company. Mapping is often required when a build over survey is being carried out or where drain unblocking has been frequently required and responsibility for clearance is disputed.
