Following drain surveys we have recovered all sorts of obstructions, toys, pens, broken and pulled apart drain rods all causing blocked drains for years.

If you are experiencing repeated blockages it may be worth further investigation with a low cost CCTV drain survey.

If the problem turns out to be more complex, for example root ingress or a collapse we can usually identify the problem quickly with a CCTV drain survey, If this is covered by your buildings insurance we will liaise directly with your insurers and manage the problem for you, if you wish.

DRAIN SURVEY INSPECTION

Drain surveys are the best and most cost effective way to inspect drains and sewers. If you already have a drainage problem. A CCTV drain survey is an accurate way to get a detailed look at the condition of the  drainage system.

We use specialist camera systems and software to carry out a drain survey. The drain inspection cameras relay images to a monitor. These images allow us to assess the structural condition and integrity of the drain or sewer. There is no disruption to your property or the environment. Our camera units give an accurate view of the drainage system. We can send this information directly to your insurance company if you wish along with a full technical report.

CCTV surveys are an efficient way of checking for defects which can allow rats to enter buildings. Rats commonly gain internal access to property through small breaks in the drainage system.  They need only the smallest flaw in a pipe join to start gnawing their way in.

If you suspect that you have such unwelcome visitors in your property, ask about a CCTV survey. If rats are entering via the sewer system, we will identify the point of access.

A CCTV drain survey has revealed root ingress and a cracked pipe.

A surveyor may be able to provide a rough idea as to the construction and condition of the drains. A CCTV drain survey is the only way to know exactly what is going on in the drains. The survey will highlight structural defects. In turn this can influence your decision to purchase a property and may end up saving you money. Alternatively it may put your mind at ease knowing that the drains are working correctly.

No one at home? We do not need to enter the house. All we need is permission and access the outside drainage system.  Baker Drainage will happily arrange the survey with the current vendors or estate agents on your behalf . We collect and return keys to access the property to be surveyed if required.

Drain Tracing in Wolverhampton

Wolverhampton Drain Tracing

Sonar Drain tracing using a multiple frequency digital locator is often used together with CCTV to determine the path of underground drain pipes.

It is often used to find hidden manholes and collapsed pipes. A pulse signal from the sonde is sent in a circular or arch configuration and adjusted to indicate the pipe location and depth.

Our drain tracing and mapping services range from simply tracing a buried manhole or pipe to find the source of pollution or infiltration within a drainage system, to mapping out a complete sewer system if plans cannot be found. Very often there are no records of where drains at older properties run.

An Underground sonde carried by a high pressure water jetting hose or CCTV into the pipe to be traced, emits a high frequency signal to the operator’s receiver at ground level. Drain tracing dyes help to confirm connections from toilets, baths showers and sinks.

Using this equipment in conjunction with CCTV allows us to get an accurate view of what is going on below ground and helps keep repair costs to a minimum. Excavation is expensive, sonar tracing and CCTV take the guesswork out of where you dig.

With the drain trace and CCTV survey completed we can provide the client with details of the pipe depth, location and flow direction together with an accurate diagnosis of the drain problem.

Drain Mapping is creating a map of the drainage system layout. Drain mapping can show previously unknown connections and confirm which part of the underground drainage system belongs to the client and which part to the water company. Mapping is often required when a build over survey is being carried out or where drain unblocking has been frequently required and responsibility for clearance is disputed.
